About

Who is Core?

Core: Leadership, Infrastructure, Futures is a new division of the American Library Association. In April and June of 2020, the members of ALCTS, LITA and LLAMA, and the ALA Council, respectively, voted to dissolve the three divisions and create a new division, Core.  Core’s mission is to cultivate and amplify the collective expertise of library workers in the core functions of collections, technology, and management through community building, advocacy, and learning.

What is Core Virtual Forum?

Core Virtual Forum is the first official event of the newly formed ALA Core Division.  The exciting two-day program will take place on non-consecutive days, November 18 & 20, which will provide more flexibility for attendees and minimize Zoom fatigue. Core Virtual Forum is an ideal place to interact with fellow library workers who are interested in library technology, leadership, collections, preservation, assessment, and metadata. With the theme of ”Intention and Serendipity: Exploration of Ideas through Purposeful and Chance Connections”, Core Virtual Forum 2020 will feature sessions that explore the ways present-day challenges are driving many library leaders to reassess priorities, explore innovative technology solutions, and address evolving staffing and workplace demands.
